Recently got a copy of an old book on Ozark Superstition and mythology, and found this poem on counting crows. It’s so great. I’ll be working it into Wilde Life somehow. I didn’t know six crows was a bad omen! Did you know??
I got the book specifically because Witches are a huge part of Ozark mythos, and I wanted to be able to draw from that when working on Eliza. It’s just full of other great stuff, too, though. I’m super inspired!
But, man. Birds are never a good omen in Ozark or Native American mythos! Birds are always a bad time. They’re out to get you! Beware of birds.
